Overview

We are seeking a Operating Room Technician
, sometimes referred to as a Surgical Techn
ician, Surgical Tech, or Scrub Tech. An OR Tech will prepare
, maintain
, and assist in the operating room (OR) to ensure surgeries run smoothly and safely, including management of surgical instruments. You will be part of the surgical team, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to create a safe and efficient environment for surgery, helping surgeries proceed smoothly.

Responsibilities

Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, sterilizing equipment, and arranging necessary supplies such as surgical drapes, sponges, and gowns.
Ensure all equipment is functioning properly before the surgery begins, including lights, suction machines, and monitoring devices.
Assist with preparing and draping the surgical site to maintain a sterile field and help prevent infections.
Hand instruments, sponges, and other supplies to surgeons and nurses as needed; anticipate the surgeon’s needs during the procedure.
Monitor the sterile field and ensure it remains uncontaminated; quickly replace items or inform the team if needed.
Count all instruments, sponges, and other materials before and after surgery.
Reset the operating room after surgery, ensuring it is stocked and organized for the next procedure, following safety and hygiene protocols.

Qualifications

Graduate of an ORT training program or on-the-job training with a minimum of 3 years experience in a surgical setting preferred.

Experience scrubbing minor and major procedures in various surgical specialties (e.g., General, Orthopedics, Urology, and GYN).

Current BCLS (AHA) on hire and maintained.

Two to three years experience working in an operating room setting or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) on hire and maintained.

Must be proficient in the following specialties within 6 months:
Gen, Gyn, Urol, Vasc, ENT/Plastics.

Must be proficient in one of the following specialties within 6 months:
Major Vascular, Ortho, Neuro.

Proficient is defined as the associate can perform cases in that specialty independently.
