Senior Medical Science Liaison Cardiorenal (Kansas City)

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a trusted scientific expert representing Bayer in the medical community through dissemination of and education on scientific data related to Bayer products across the product lifecycle. The MSL establishes proactive long-term scientific/strategic relationships with key healthcare providers, stakeholders, major medical associations and academic centers of excellence to ensure access to relevant scientific information and appropriate sharing with the medical community.

The MSL provides technical and scientific field support to healthcare providers for safe and effective use of Bayer products, including timely adverse event reporting and responses to unsolicited questions about product and disease state information. The MSL develops a complete understanding of national, regional and local experts and stakeholders in specific therapeutic categories and the healthcare environment in which they work, covering a specific region and Area Business Unit in collaboration with internal partners and external contacts.

Candidates will need to reside near/within the territory.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Medical Science Liaison, are organized into the following areas:

• Complete core training curriculum and basic MSL and Therapeutic Area (TA) Certification.
• Demonstrate accountability to continuous learning and growth (Franchise data, MSL role, Soft Skills, Personal Development). Complete recertification where applicable.
• Maintain professional licensure with CEU documentation where applicable.
• Develop depth of knowledge within the therapeutic area beyond that of peers and/or Medical Affairs experience in multiple therapeutic areas.
• Coordinate and lead TA updates, team discussions, and training initiatives (e.g., journal clubs).
• Attend and report on local, regional and national medical conferences and other valuable meetings.
• Coordinate team coverage of major regional or national meetings, including program evaluation and high-quality meeting reports.
• Identify educational gaps and provide recommendations for educational resources, content, or initiative development.

• Establish robust long-term relationships with Thought Leaders and other key stakeholders through education on up-to-date scientific information aligned with US, Global, and Area Business Unit definitions and strategies.
• Engage proactively with TLs, HCPs, research sites, associations, societies, and other stakeholders according to defined plans; identify future stakeholders in alignment with local health care systems and medical strategy.
• Leverage knowledge of US and Global definitions/strategies to develop and implement local Area Business Unit strategy.
• Drive medical strategy by translating the local medical plan into actionable TL and stakeholder engagement strategies with cross-functional teams, identifying synergies with Bayer interests and the medical community.
• Approach accounts strategically, using key metrics to align with territory plans and medical objectives.
• Support speaker training and evaluation and medical evaluation of scientific merit as needed.
• Coordinate Advisory Boards or other Bayer programs during meetings.
• Coordinate TL engagement with Franchise Medical Affairs team and internal stakeholders.

• Deliver educational presentations to external audiences and identify opportunities within the Area Business Unit for stakeholders or customer groups.
• Provide timely, accurate, specific and balanced responses to Medical Inquiries in collaboration with Medical Communications.
• Adhere to SOP and FDA guidance for distribution of scientific information and to all compliance guidelines for external contacts.
• Prepare and present data to internal audiences including MA and Commercial partners.

• Support research projects aligned with medical and brand strategy; facilitate investigator-initiated research (IIR) and site identification.
• Support Bayer-sponsored clinical trials by engaging with stakeholders, assisting with data collection, feasibility and initiation visits, and study support as appropriate.

• Generate relevant HCP and stakeholder insights to deepen understanding of patients, HCPs, consumers or treatment landscapes; document and communicate insights to inform tactics and strategy.
• Report new compound development information and potential collaborations when appropriate or requested in line with corporate strategy.

• Maintain compliant, active strategic partnerships with territory cross-functional stakeholders as part of the Area Business Unit team.
• Present to internal audiences including Therapeutic Area Medical Affairs or commercial partners.
• Lead project teams or task forces within the Franchise Medical Team.
• Initiate best practice discussions for the MSL team and internal partners.
• Serve as MSL mentor as appropriate.
