This position is located and will office in Downtown Kansas City, MO. This position is not eligible for remote or hybrid work. The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the financial activities of the company. This position will partner with the Chief Executive Officer and other executives to establish strategic direction and provide overall leadership of the bank.
The CFO provides financial reporting and analysis to bank management, regulatory agencies, and the Board of Directors. In addition, the officer is responsible for compliance with all applicable banking laws, regulations, and internal policies with respect to the accounting and finance functions.
- Manage and oversee the Accounting Department to ensure accurate, timely and relevant financial information is provided and appropriate internal controls are intact.
- Participate in decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model, and execution.
- Establish and maintain relationships with department leaders to identify their needs and seek solutions for financial and/or operational reporting.
- Present monthly financial reports at each Board of Directors meeting.
- Prepare Bank’s Capital Plan and operating budget annually and measure and report financial performance to executive management and the Board of Directors.
- Direct performance of the bank’s asset-liability policy including liquidity management, investment functions, interest rate risk, wholesale liabilities and deposit interest rates.
- Prepare financial forecasts and monitor the bank’s progress against objectives.
- Serve as the key point of contact for external auditors and banking regulators.
- Monitor accounting and regulatory issues and implement necessary changes.
- Coordinate proper filing of required tax returns and tax payments.
- Develop and monitor branch and department budgets.
- Ensure regulatory filings are accurate and completed according to applicable standards.
- Mentor accounting staff to strengthen their capabilities.
- Oversees long term budgetary and cost management in alignment with the Bank’s Strategic Plan.
- Directs the preparation of predictive models to assist executive management with active management as business conditions change.
- Serve on the Executive Management, Asset-Liability Management, IT Steering, Enterprise Risk and Investment Plan Committees.
- Supervise others, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, motivating, and training.
- Conduct regular meetings and provide frequent feedback to associates to develop them and provide a career path.
- Understand, communicate, and instill the Company’s mission, vision, and values (Pillars of Success).
- Complete monthly training in a timely manner to ensure knowledge of bank regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
