Overview
The Strategic Pricing Manager is responsible for developing and managing complex hourly and value-based pricing arrangements and engagement/client/matter budgets for a broad variety of engagement/client/matter scenarios. This is a hybrid position located in Kansas City, MO.
Responsibilities- Ensure department transactional, analytical, and ad-hoc activities are complete, appropriately timely, accurately executed, and related documentation assembled, filed and retained in accordance with Littler Policies and relevant external requirements and regulations.
- Work independently to develop and manage complex hourly and value-based pricing arrangements and engagement/client/matter budgets for a broad variety of engagement/client/matter scenarios.
- Effectively manage complex analysis of financial and non-financial data in each case, drawing appropriate conclusions, recommending alternative action plans, and using influence to drive appropriate pricing strategies and solutions.
- Oversee analysis and monitoring of return on planned strategic investment, profitability and other key metrics for pricing deals; maintenance of matter and client arrangement databases; month end and other periodic reconciliation, analysis and reporting, and other activities in response to current and future business needs.
- Strategic Pricing decisions and recommendations reflect sound business judgment, strategic consideration of all relevant and available financial and non-financial data, promote the alignment of client and firm interests and preserve and protect the firm’s assets.
- Department policies and procedures are current, reflect best practice appropriate to the Firm's evolving business needs, and are consistently complied with.
- Inquiries from clients (both internal and external), vendors and other third parties are addressed in a timely matter and appropriately resolved.
- Relationships with stakeholders are established and effectively maintained to promote collaboration and support service standards, promptly resolve issues with integrity and meet department objectives.
- Prepare written presentations and present financial and non-financial data orally and in writing that is effective, professional and appropriate for the audience.
- Duties are efficiently and effectively allocated among team members to ensure department service standards are met and labor costs are appropriately managed.
- Mentor and share best practices with other pricing department team members.
- Foster collaboration and communication between pricing department team members, accounting & finance group departments, and other corporate / firm departments is promoted and effective.
- Recommend appropriate process changes and areas of improvement to team lead.
- Personal and departmental improvement, growth and development objectives are set, actioned and evaluated annually.
- Reinforce a growth and development culture by expanding technical knowledge and fostering personal and career development by attending educational workshops, leveraging available resources and collaborating with team members.
- Perform such other/additional duties as may from time to time be assigned.
- Demonstrated mastery of accounting skills and complex concepts, and business acumen and leadership typically acquired via at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or comparable field, together with 5 or more years managing and transforming the transactional and ad-hoc activities of a high volume, multi-location, multi-currency Strategic Pricing function, ideally in a Law Firm or other Professional Services and/or owner managed environment.
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge of Strategic Pricing objective alignment and development, best practices, policies and processes sufficient to lead and manage as well as execute the development and presentation of complex hourly and value based pricing arrangements and engagement / client / matter budgets for a broad variety of client scenarios; analyze financial and non-financial data in each case drawing appropriate conclusions and recommending action plans;
