At GFT, our team is dedicated to creating efficient, innovative solutions for our clients. We are seeking a Civil Engineering intern interested in learning career skills through assisting our experienced Engineers in the design process and preparation of plan sets. Successful candidates will be exposed to multiple engineering disciplines including interstate and arterial roadway design, freight rail design, hydrology and hydraulics, site design and utilities, as well as traffic studies and data collection.
Additionally, there will be opportunity to perform construction inspection duties on various types of construction sites.
During your internship, you will work alongside a highly collaborative civil engineering team supporting a variety of public and private projects. You will receive guidance, supervision, and mentorship from experienced engineers and project managers with your professional growth as the priority. Many of our interns continue their internship throughout their academic career and transition into full-time roles upon graduation.
Responsibilities- Perform variety of tasks related to Civil Engineering to support design, analysis, and plan production.
- Support preparation of engineering calculations, quantity take-offs, technical reports, and permit submission packages.
- Utilize CAD, GIS, and various other design software under the direction of senior engineers.
- Coordinate with internal team members and participate in project meetings and training opportunities.
- Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
- Demonstrated interest in civil design, roadway or rail design, or infrastructure engineering through applied academic projects, prior internships, or related experiences.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Willingness to learn, seek feedback, and engage multiple perspectives when solving problems.
The salary range for this role is $21.00 - $28.00. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
