Job SummaryThe Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the research, design, development, simulation, testing, and troubleshooting of motor vehicle mechanical systems and equipment. The role of the Mechanical Engineer is to produce safe, efficient, and innovative mechanical solutions that enhance the functionality and performance of our motor vehicles.
Essential Functions- Designs mechanical systems and components for motor vehicles
- Analyzes and interprets design specifications and technical drawings
- Works with a design team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans
- Uses Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software for design simulation, and Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the product
- Produces specifications for products and chooses raw materials and components to be used in production
- Builds models and prototypes of the product and tests the design
- Studies the test data and makes comparisons with similar designs
- Develops control systems and monitors production
- Manages projects and prepares material, cost, and timing estimates, reports, and design specifications
- Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
- Keeps up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends
- Documents all project design and development work for future reference

- Proven work experience as a Mechanical Engineer
- Knowledge of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) vehicle systems and equipment
- Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, especially as they relate to vehicle systems and components, including design, troubleshooting, and repair
- Excellent problem-solving skills to quickly identify and address electrical issues
- Understanding of safety standards and regulations in the automotive industry
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members, other engineers, and customers
