In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. Responsibilities

The Industrial Engineer II role is an experienced level position performing routine to moderately complex engineering functions on assigned projects or sub-projects of a general nature by applying standard mathematical, physical science, and/or engineering technologies.

  • Coordinates and administers the work measurement system in manufacturing and inspection departments, including the development and application of standard time values using time study, standard time data, and predetermined time systems.
  • Assists in the project management/continuous improvements of new and current projects, under technical guidance of higher-level engineers or departmental management.
  • Conducts/coordinates the analysis of production and inspection operations to determine optimum methods and sequence of performing necessary work considering tools, materials, specifications, equipment, and environment.
  • Prepares evaluation reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for and initiates improvements for product, test equipment, procedures and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and reduce flow time.
  • Develops manufacturing layout proposals for rearrangements of departments to optimize the utilization of resources and facilities considering workloads, processes, product flow, and relationship with other operating groups.
  • Develops base cost data (e.g., direct labor and direct material requirements) for product cost estimates.
  • Estimates set-up times, operating times, and flow times for production needs.
  • Supports audits to anticipate, identify, and correct problems and to measure production levels and trends.
  • Performs special studies in all areas of plant operations and recommends preventive/corrective actions (e.g., time studies, energy studies).
Qualifications
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Physics from an ABET accredited program.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
  • United States Citizenship
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
