Mechanical Engineer (Design & R&D – Wastewater Systems)

Location: Lenexa, KS (Onsite) Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 (DOE) Position Type: Direct Hire

Position Overview

Are you a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys seeing a project move from a virtual model to a physical prototype? We are seeking a high-caliber Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Lenexa. This is a "level-up" role designed for an engineer in the front half of their career who is ready to move beyond simple drafting and into full-scale product ownership, R&D, and system analysis.

While we are a privately held organization, our technological capabilities often outperform billion-dollar competitors in the wastewater and fluid management space. This role offers the unique opportunity to design complex mechanical systems, including metal enclosures and underwater housing equipment, while staying at the forefront of industry innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced Design: Utilize Solidworks to design equipment, structural cages, and specialized metal enclosures, many of which are engineered for submerged or harsh environments.
  • BIM Integration: Convert and analyze BIM files from Revit to model how products integrate into larger infrastructure projects, ensuring seamless manufacturability.
  • R&D & Prototyping: Lead research and development efforts, including building and testing physical prototypes to validate new designs.
  • Industry Engagement: Attend major national trade shows (such as WEFTEC) to interact with distributors, study market trends, and gain a deep understanding of end-user needs.
  • Technical Growth: Over time, expand your skill set into PLC programming and advanced system analysis to become a subject matter expert in our technology suite.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) is required.
  • Experience: Approximately 3–7+ years of professional experience
  • Software Proficiency: Strong mastery of Solidworks is essential. Experience with Revit or BIM conversion is a significant plus.

Industry Background: Experience in wastewater, fluid handling, or heavy industrial equipment is preferred

Why This Role?

  • Direct Impact: You aren't just a gear in a machine; you are the owner of your designs and will see them through to production.
  • Professional Development: We invest in our engineers, including travel to the largest industry trade shows in the U.S. for networking and continuing education.
  • Stable Innovation: Join a team that combines the stability of a privately held company with the R&D budget and technical ambition of a global leader.
