Mechanical Engineering Designer
Job Description
In this role, you will create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements. You will review design documents for accuracy, completeness, and constructability, while creating Bills of Material (BOMs). You will be responsible for designing and revising AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D industrial equipment drawings with BOM creation, maintaining a drawing vault, and documenting design narratives and engineering analysis. Your expertise in engineering conveyance, structural support steel, and automation equipment, as well as understanding thermal expansion, production facility environments, system layouts, and machine design, will be crucial.
- Create and review detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Ensure design documents are accurate, complete, and constructible.
- Design and revise AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D industrial equipment drawings.
- Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOM).
- Maintain and organize drawing vaults.
- Document design narratives and conduct engineering analysis.
- Understand and apply knowledge of thermal expansion, production environments, system layouts, and machine design.
- Travel to job sites for equipment health assessments, troubleshooting, and field verifications of drawings as needed.
- Proficiency in Inventor, AutoCAD, and Solid Works.
- Experience in industrial equipment engineering and design.
- Familiarity with conveyor systems and industrial fabrication.
- 3-5+ years of experience in an industrial design build environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with reviewing, updating, maintaining, and executing scope of work drawings and job plans.
The engineering team consists of Project Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Designers, totaling 15-20 members. The office environment features cubical work spaces with a moderate noise level. Occasional visits to plant environments may involve temperature variations, dust, and dirt. The standard work schedule is from 7 AM to 3:30 PM, with opportunities for overtime. Business casual attire is expected, though steel toe boots or other PPE may be required on the manufacturing floor and client plant visits.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $44.00/hr.
