Role Summary
The Superintendent 2 will help plan, manage, and execute all aspects of assigned projects with some complexity. Responsibilities include managing material and equipment, assisting with people management, ensuring documentation is complete, and meeting project goals to achieve timely and profitable completion.
Key Role Responsibilities – Core- Lead all aspects of the safety culture, investigate safety incidents, and retrain staff.
- Manage subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow.
- Oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO for a small project or a major portion of a larger project.
- Develop work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
- Coordinate and manage the care, custody and control of the project site.
- Lead various meetings including daily standup and weekly trade meetings.
- Attend, manage and participate in progress and project OAC meetings.
- Create, manage, change and implement the project’s schedule.
- Track and monitor project budget and costs.
- Communicate key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers and other departments.
- Follow the project filing and documentation organization system.
- Approve and record unit cost information and complete daily reports.
- Evaluate progress on self-perform work and adjust as needed.
- Manage material and equipment needs for the project.
- Support the MOC and DLSC procurement and approval processes.
- Assist in selection of formwork, tools and equipment necessary for self-perform operations.
- Manage timecard approval process to ensure accurate hours and proper cost codes.
- Ensure quality compliance through use of specifications, setting quality standards, in‑house QA/QC and outside resources.
- Support the project closeouts by supervising pre‑punch activities and coordinating activities with the owner, architect and governing authorities.
- Gain understanding of the project pursuit process and methodology.
- Participate with field operations leadership and the project team to put together a project pre plan; implement, monitor and adjust as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Partner with field leadership to establish field staffing for their assigned project.
- Partner with project management to identify schedule and costs associated with project changes.
- Participate in the negotiation process with the owner and architect to gain agreement for project changes.
- Participate with the project team in preparation and presentation for all project review meetings, including the monthly review process and other key project meetings.
- Participate in the project buy out meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
- Understand and apply the terms and conditions of the owner and subcontractor contracts for the project.
- Responsible for identifying and recruiting top talent.
- Lead, support and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn.
- Manage fairly complex stand‑alone projects from start to finish.
- Assume responsibility for management, scheduling, production, safety and quality on their project or their portion of the project.
- Identify and actively manage project risks.
- Utilize awareness, experience and knowledge to identify problems and recommend solutions for review and implementation by the team.
- Manage deliverables provided by a variety of internal resources and functions such as IPS, logistics, etc.
- Participate with project team in project pursuits.
- Participate in the negotiation process with the owner and architect to gain agreement for project changes.
- Perform work accurately and completely in a timely manner.
- Effective verbal and written communication (Intermediate).
- Conduct effective presentations (Intermediate).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Intermediate).
- Apply fundamentals of construction management to projects.
