Mechanical Engineer - HDR, Kansas City Metropolitan Area, United States (Missouri). Full-time Regular employment.
Do you have a passion for designing, optimizing and managing mechanical systems for high-performance data centers, commercial and institutional projects? We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to our Building Engineering Services Group and help shape the infrastructure of the digital age. Responsibilities- Coordinate the work of the mechanical design team through schematic design, development and contract document phases.
- Establish meetings and participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
- Coordinate workload to complete documents on schedule.
- Conduct work sessions at the project site with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
- Review mechanical documents for conflicts with all disciplines.
- Write and edit mechanical specifications, select equipment, mechanical systems, and devices.
- Assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs, change orders and incorporate agreed‑upon changes.
- Provide construction contract administration as needed.
- Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Coordinators or CAD Technicians.
- Perform other duties as required.
- 5‑10 years experience in HVAC and plumbing systems design.
- Revit MEP experience preferred.
- Computer experience with MS Office, IESVE, Trane TRACE, or similar manufacturer selection software.
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
- Commitment to our employee‑owned culture is a must.
- Commercial/institutional experience in healthcare, technology/data centers, and/or water‑wastewater preferred.
- Master’s degree or other advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with mechanical emphasis.
- Experience or interest in sustainable design, LEED desired but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Previous experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings.
- Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position (e.g., PE or P.Eng).
- Experience in commercial or institutional facilities.
- Computer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection software.
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
- Commitment to the employee‑owned culture is a must.
