Role SummaryThe M/E Engineer 2 will complete routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities. This position will collect and assemble data, help develop estimates, and generate systems and bid analysis to support JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values.
Key Role Responsibilities – Core- Participate actively in safety and quality plans, mentoring others and demonstrating a commitment to an injury‑free environment.
- Complete entry‑level and routine mechanical, electrical and field construction activities.
- Develop budgetary M/E estimates using program and schematic design information and JE Dunn’s automated M/E estimating system.
- Assist in reviewing mechanical and electrical options during pre‑construction and perform systems analysis for select projects.
- Develop mechanical and electrical scopes of work used in the bid process.
- Assist in bid analysis and provide input during subcontractor selection.
- Develop sequencing requirements for various systems and propose solutions to meet schedule needs.
- Identify potential quality problems in design documents and support constructability review reporting.
- Perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met, maintaining quality and timeliness.
- Assist with shop drawing/submittal processes to comply with contract documents.
- Participate in commissioning, including developing pre‑functional checklists, functional testing procedures, and performing functional tests.
- Generate, issue, and execute the Commissioning Plan for assigned projects.
- Interact independently with project teams regarding deliverables.
- Represent JE Dunn professionally while producing and explaining work product to clients.
- Review compliance shop drawings and submittals from subcontractors before design team approval.
- Lead the mechanical/electrical coordination process.
- Participate in all construction phases from startup to closeout.
- Develop schedules for mechanical/electrical systems.
- Conduct site inspections and submit reports to the project team.
- Create constructability reviews and submit reports.
- Participate in job pursuit presentations representing M/E expertise.
- Provide budgetary M/E estimates for assigned projects using automated systems.
- Review mechanical and electrical options during pre‑construction and complete systems analysis.
- Develop scopes of work for the bid process.
- Assist in bid analysis and subcontractor selection input.
- Develop sequencing requirements and propose schedule solutions.
- Identify design quality issues and support constructability review reports.
- Perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met.
- Proceed through shop drawing/submittal processes to meet contract requirements.
- Participate in commissioning, including developing pre‑functional checklists, functional testing procedures, and performing functional tests.
- Perform work accurately, completely, and promptly.
- Effective verbal and written communication (Intermediate).
- Proficient in MS Office (Intermediate).
- Read and understand plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficient in JE Dunn construction M/E tools and software.
- Knowledge of construction management methods.
- Build relationships and collaborate within internal and external teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field (Required).
- Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the above degree.
