Job DescriptionCDM Smith has an exciting opportunity for an experienced candidate to lead client engagement and business development activities for municipal water infrastructure and water resources clients in the greater Kansas City region. CDM Smith has been providing water-related planning, design, and construction services in Kansas City for nearly 50 years— delivering complex water treatment, wastewater treatment, pump station, master planning, and conveyance projects across the region.
We are looking for someone who will help develop and implement strategy to grow our Kansas City water market.
- Leading and creating client engagement strategies and pursuit plans for municipal clients in the greater Kansas City regional markets
- Developing new business, creating and maintaining high value relationships with clients
- Leading the strategy for client selection, client management, and pursuits in the geography
- Developing strategies for finding new streams of revenue and promoting technical innovations with clients
- Developing and managing proposal efforts and presentations
- Working effectively with Project Managers, Key Technical Specialists and other members of the CDM Smith design team regarding successful project delivery
- Assisting on individual projects with other engineers/scientists or technicians
- Being active in professional societies, industry organizations, and appropriate political circles in the greater Kansas City area
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional engineering (PE) license. 12 years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Extensive project management and business development experience with water/wastewater engineering projects
- PE licensure strongly preferred
- Knowledge of and existing relationships with water/wastewater clients in the Midwest US, including Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa.
