About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute to the project management, design, development, and optimization of mechanical/plumbing systems and products. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
This role is well-suited for a hands‑on engineer with a proven track record of delivering high-quality engineering solutions and mentoring junior team members. The expectation is to also deal with clients directly and perform all duties of engineering project management.
The engineering type of projects will be well‑diversified for this individual, including mission critical / data centers, higher education, pharmaceutical / laboratory, industrial, aviation, general commercial, and design‑build.
Primary Duties- Use and implement Revit modeling and CAD software
- Perform field work to document existing conditions
- Be able to perform energy analysis, audits, condition assessments, field mechanical forensics, and minimal retro‑commissioning.
- Determine base engineering loads for buildings, documenting the results in formal calculations or in computerized programs.
- Identify and select equipment and components that meet Owner requirements and design intent
- Lay out, detail, and note construction drawings, within Revit, for development in Revit by CAD Technicians
- Develop equipment schedules for use in construction drawings
- Develop specifications for use in construction document packages
- Develop building automation system controls, P&IDs and sequences for mechanical systems.
- Invest time in professional development to increase the body of knowledge that is used in engineering projects. This includes participation in professional organizations, vendor seminars, reading technical articles, and any other means of formal education
- Work in‑office 5 days a week
- Maintain neat and orderly work spaces, so that electronic files, drawings, specifications, and any other project document or data can be easily found
- Adhere to and enforce Revit and CAD standards to assure that Wellner’s work products are professional and uniquely identifiable
- Develop and maintain Revit and CAD details and other information resources to improve efficiency
- Review work performed to determine accuracy with input from engineering staff, other project team members, and principal/supervisors
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Approximately 8–10 years minimum of professional MEP engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Revit, Solid Works, Pipe‑Flo, Trace 3D)
- Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical design principles
- Ability to perform analytical calculations and engineering trade studies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Experience in aviation, science and technology, research and development, education, office, mission critical, and healthcare
- Experience working in regulated environments or with industry standards (ASME, ISO, ANSI, etc.)
- Prior experience leading projects or technical teams
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
