Job DescriptionOlsson offers clients a full spectrum of water and wastewater services, including planning, design, permitting, and construction phase services. Maintaining water quality is our number one concern, and we respond to a broad set of client demands in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
The Water/Wastewater team is looking for an experienced water and/or sewer modeling engineer to perform hydraulic modeling and master planning from conception to completion. Responsibilities include process design calculations, creating population and demand projections, assisting with report writing, and attending client meetings. Additional tasks involve providing project design utilizing CAD/modeling software, performing technical analysis, preparing construction documents, providing construction services, performing research, and writing technical reports.
Typical projects include sanitary sewer piping, wastewater pump stations, wastewater treatment facilities, water piping, water supply wells, storage tanks, and treatment facilities.
- Provides high‑level project design and review of project documents and design quality for complex projects.
- Serves as a technical specialist, applying advanced engineering concepts and developing approaches to solve for complexities.
- Performs QA/QC and ensures delivery of completed designs meets quality standards and project objectives.
- Conducts research in areas of considerable scope and complexity.
- Advise and direct staff on design approaches to fulfill project requirements.
- Works collaboratively to promote efficiencies and produce high quality work.
- Contributes to the development of standards and/or guidelines for engineering activities within the team.
- Supervises and reviews technical assignments of less experienced staff; assists with mentoring and development of junior staff.
- Helps build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring projects meet and exceed client expectations.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, or a related field.
- Understanding of water and wastewater master planning process.
- Solid understanding of open channel and closed pipe hydraulics.
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro mapping software.
- 10+ years of experience with water and sewer modeling software such as Info Works ICM, Sewer
GEMS, Water
GEMS, Info Water Pro, and/or Water
CAD.

Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, geographic location, skills, education, and internal equity. Colorado Pay Range: $116,000 - $173,000 USD.
