Overview
Our Engineering Services partner is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to support large-scale Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects across the food, consumer products, pharmaceutical, life sciences, aerospace, and industrial sectors. This role will focus on the design, programming, and commissioning of automation and controls, from concept through startup.
What You’ll Do- Design and deliver automation and controls solutions for EPC projects (PLC, HMI, MES, Batch, SCADA, servers, and virtualization).
- Commission and start up automation and control systems at client sites.
- Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) with vendors.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams, including project managers, engineers, procurement, and construction staff.
- Review P&IDs, define scope with process engineers, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Manage budgets, schedules, and progress tracking for controls deliverables.
- Build strong relationships with clients and vendors while supporting business development efforts.
Education:
- Bachelor’s in Controls, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (ABET accredited) + FE exam completion + 3+ years of experience OR Master’s degree + 4+ years of experience
- Strong knowledge of automation, controls, and electrical engineering standards (ANSI, IEEE, NFPA, ISA, IEC).
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, SCADA, and DCS (Rockwell, Siemens, Factory Talk, Wonderware; Ignition a plus).
- Familiarity with process instrumentation, safety systems (SIS/SIF), and machine safety compliance (ISO
13849, ISA/IEC 61511). - Ability to perform detailed design reviews, calculations, and QA/QC of deliverables.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel for site support and commissioning (~25–30%).

- PE license (or ability to obtain)
- TWIC card eligibility
- MES implementation (e.g., Ignition/Sepasoft, PTC Thing Worx, TrakSYS)
- Plant
PAX, PackML, and simulation tools (Batch
SIM, Plant
SIM)
