Mechanical Engineer

Summary

The Mechanical Engineer I role is an entry‑level position performing routine engineering functions on assigned projects or sub‑projects of a general nature and limited scope by applying standard mathematical, physical science, and/or engineering technologies.

• Assists in the design and/or project or process management of projects, products, programs, components, tools, and acceptance equipment under technical guidance. Participates in establishing operating procedures on new products and components.
• Supports the development of testing procedures and performs routine to moderately complex engineering evaluations.
• Analyzes evaluation reports and discrepancies to make recommendations that improve productivity and quality to reduce flowtime.
• Interacts as a team with design agencies, suppliers, and/or internal organizations under the guidance from experienced Mechanical Engineers to assist in product realization.

• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on‑site as directed by management and determined by the needs of the business.
• Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics.
• United States Citizenship.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
• Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for the position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).

• Previous relevant internship experience or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrates analytical skills, mathematical computations, computer software applications, and written documentation.
• Demonstrates established technical methodologies for routine engineering projects.
• Looks for opportunities to document improvements/innovations in approved processes.
