Description

A Mechanical Detailer will assist with plans and prepare non-routine drawings with complex features using information from rough sketches, detailed engineering notes, or brief verbal guidance. This position involves working on various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.

Assist in planning and preparing detailed drawings by applying standardized drawing techniques from detailed sketches, verbal instructions, and notes under the supervision of an engineer.

Collect initial drawings, calculations, and design ideas from engineers, and integrate relevant data into coherent initial design models for review and modification.

Help produce HVAC flow diagrams, plumbing riser diagrams, PFDs, and P&IDs from verbal or written descriptions from the design engineer.

Coordinate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and verify design details according to company standards and best practices.

Provide a range of drawing production work including problem analysis, layout, detailing, and drafting on projects of substantial variety and complexity.

Collaborate with designers and drafters in other disciplines for drafting activities.

Communicate with internal design resources and external clients and personnel.

Implement design changes and revisions to project drawings.

Maintain proficiency in CAD and work towards mastering current CAD systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in drafting technology or related field with 2 years of related experience, or

Associate Degree with 3 years of related experience, or

High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience.

Strong knowledge of design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Micro Station, and Excel. Ability to learn new software effectively.

Proficiency in both 2D and 3D applications for engineering drawings.

Basic understanding of mechanical systems and related calculations.

Knowledge of engineering principles and ability to operate related design software.

Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
