Description

A Mechanical Detailer will assist with plans and prepare non-routine drawings with complex features using information from rough sketches, detailed engineering notes, or brief verbal guidance. This position involves working on various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.

  • Assist in planning and preparing detailed drawings by applying standardized drawing techniques from detailed sketches, verbal instructions, and notes under the supervision of an engineer.
  • Collect initial drawings, calculations, and design ideas from engineers, and integrate relevant data into coherent initial design models for review and modification.
  • Help produce HVAC flow diagrams, plumbing riser diagrams, PFDs, and P&IDs from verbal or written descriptions from the design engineer.
  • Coordinate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and verify design details according to company standards and best practices.
  • Provide a range of drawing production work including problem analysis, layout, detailing, and drafting on projects of substantial variety and complexity.
  • Collaborate with designers and drafters in other disciplines for drafting activities.
  • Communicate with internal design resources and external clients and personnel.
  • Implement design changes and revisions to project drawings.
  • Maintain proficiency in CAD and work towards mastering current CAD systems.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in drafting technology or related field with 2 years of related experience, or
  • Associate Degree with 3 years of related experience, or
  • High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
  • Strong knowledge of design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Micro Station, and Excel. Ability to learn new software effectively.
  • Proficiency in both 2D and 3D applications for engineering drawings.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and related calculations.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and ability to operate related design software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
