Position Summary

The Instructional Coach is a professional educator who collaborates with teachers to strengthen instructional practices, classroom management, and student engagement. This role focuses on coaching and supporting teachers in using data-driven instruction, implementing evidence-based teaching strategies, and preparing students for academic success. The coach serves as a mentor and thought partner, promoting continuous professional growth and the integration of research-based instructional methods.

Responsibilities

Instructional Coaching and Teaching Support

  • Develops collegial relationships with teachers to understand current instructional delivery and explore research-based teaching strategies.
  • Coaches teachers on effective classroom management, behavior intervention plans, and strategies tailored to diverse student needs.
  • Uses a non-evaluative coaching model to support teachers in self-assessment, reflection, and instructional planning.
  • Conducts classroom observations, models lessons, and provides real-time feedback and guidance to strengthen teachers’ instructional delivery.

Student Engagement & Instructional Best Practices

  • Supports teachers in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Facilitates the implementation of new instructional techniques, curriculum frameworks, and assessment tools.
  • Encourages collaborative teaching models, including co-teaching, peer observations, and professional learning communities (PLCs).
  • Identifies and promotes model classrooms that demonstrate effective teaching and student engagement.

Professional Development & Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Leads teacher coaching cycles, workshops, professional development, and PLC meetings focused on lesson planning, instructional delivery, and student work analysis.
  • Assists educators in using student performance data to inform instruction, intervention strategies, and academic support plans.
  • Provides support to curriculum coordinators in the development and revision of instructional frameworks.
  • Helps teachers integrate evidence-based strategies aligned with state learning standards and district initiatives.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze and display school-level data to identify trends in student performance and recommend strategies for improvement.
  • Works closely with school and district leadership to align coaching strategies with district goals.
  • Participates in curriculum planning meetings and district-wide instructional initiatives.
  • Supports a culture of professional growth, encouraging teachers to reflect on and refine their instructional practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years of classroom teaching experience in a public school setting OR three (3) years of professional experience in a corporate setting with supplemental certified teaching experience.
  • Valid Missouri teaching certificate.
  • Experience in lesson planning, classroom management, and student engagement strategies.
  • Proficiency in educational technology tools and data-driven instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Administrative Certification or In Progress
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or training educators in a professional development setting.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and best practices in professional development.
