* Substitute Certification
In order to substitute at Académie Lafayette, you must have a current Missouri substitute teaching certificate through Missouri DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education). If you do not already have a substitute certification, please review the requirements and steps for certification. The DESE site has information on substitute teachers and certification requirements.
Those with foreign transcripts/credentials (and no US college credits) will need to have a credential evaluation performed to show you have a minimum of 36 hours of college credit. You may also go through a DESE-approved 20-hour training to be eligible for certification; this route is often more efficient for those with foreign degrees.
All substitutes are required to be registered with the Family Care Safety Registry in addition to a MACHS federal and state background check. Académie Lafayette will require access to the MACHS background check, you will use a specific code when registering to have the results sent to DESE and our district. (If you do not use the code when getting your initial certification, you will need to get another background check.)
