The Aircraft Mechanic Instructor delivers engaging instruction in assigned courses, ensuring students grasp both theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. In addition to teaching, the instructor manages administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, assessing student performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the curriculum. This role fosters a supportive learning environment that promotes student success and prepares them for aviation careers.
KeyDuties
- Provide engaging teaching in aircraft maintenance principles and develop curricula aligned with industry standards.
- Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and provides individualized support.
- Oversee administrative responsibilities, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
This position ensures the aircraft maintenance training program prepares students for aviation careers in alignment with industry standards.
Job Responsibilities- Teach classes on a scheduled basis in aircraft maintenance, fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director to develop curriculum, prepare materials, and schedule classes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe classroom and laboratory; ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained.
- Establish and maintain accurate academic and attendance records; submit attendance, grades, evaluations, and other documentation per procedures.
- Notify the Supervisor of issues and implement retention techniques to support student success.
- Complete performance-based teacher education modules, participate in classroom observations, and respond to student feedback to improve instruction.
- Attend and/or lead in-service trainings and faculty meetings for professional development and collaboration.
- Assist in managing inventory of department equipment and supplies; submit replenishment requests as needed.
- Monitor student attendance; alert the Supervisor to absences that may affect retention.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor to support the aircraft maintenance program.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum three (3) years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance (additional experience considered)
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of aircraft maintenance with ongoing professional development
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, compliance-driven educational setting
- Detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and able to multitask
- High integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and customer-service orientation in an educational context
- Motivated, goal-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and in a team with excellent interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
- Flexible and available to work outside scheduled hours as needed
- Associate’s degree in related field
- Campus Nexus experience
- Schedule:
Friday–Sunday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM - One additional 10-hour day for preparation time (flexible)
This position pays up to $28.84 per hour + $2,500 sign-on bonus
