Adjunct Instructor – Department of Sociology and Anthropology, UMKC School of Humanities and Social Sciences

University of Missouri–Kansas City – School of Humanities and Social Sciences – Department of Sociology and Anthropology

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Missouri–Kansas City seeks qualified candidates for part‑time Adjunct Instructor teaching positions. Appointment period is for the semester with consideration for reappointment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage syllabus materials using the University of Missouri‑Kansas City Syllabus Generator (SG) and/or Required Syllabus Elements Templates.
  • Select, compile, and administer tests, assignments, and online discussion exercises that measure student performance relative to standardized learning outcomes.
  • Submit a copy of all syllabi to the department to ensure that course(s) comply with University of Missouri‑Kansas City standards.
  • Coordinate courseware and curriculum with the academic department chair and review any textbook or courseware changes with the chair.
  • Maintain, update, and ensure the accuracy of Canvas content for all assigned courses.
  • Utilize Canvas to engage and communicate with students to complement course and program learning outcomes.
  • Provide timely student assessment and feedback.
  • Check email regularly and maintain effective communication with students, administrators, and faculty colleagues.
  • Enter final grades into Canvas and Pathway and submit grade books to the department on or before university grade‑deadline dates.
Qualifications
  • PhD in a related field.
  • Teaching experience.
Salary

Salary commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity. Part‑time, non‑benefit eligible, unranked position.
