MINDDRIVE - Career Technical Education (CTE)

MINDDRIVE is a nontraditional education program where high school students learn by building. Students work with facilitators and mentors to design and construct electric race cars, convert classic cars to electric, weld, fly drones, and explore engineering through real‑world projects. Our programs are hands‑on, collaborative, and designed to spark belief in students who may not thrive in traditional classrooms.

Job Description

This role blends classroom instruction, project facilitation, and after‑school program coordination. Professional teachers who step outside the boundaries of traditional education and bring math, science, and technical concepts to life through applied learning are encouraged to apply.

Ideal Candidates
  • Current or former educators who want to engage students in building innovative, real‑world projects.
  • Professionals seeking to give back by teaching the next generation how to innovate, make mistakes, and solve problems.
  • Individuals who thrive in collaborative, hands‑on environments and want to help students connect classroom concepts to meaningful applications.
Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Missouri or Kansas secondary teaching certification in Math, Science, or a Career & Technical Education (CTE) area (Engineering, Industrial Technology, etc.).

Also Considered:

  • Candidates with relevant expertise, strong communication skills, and a passion for teaching and mentoring youth.

Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and connect with high school students.
  • Interest in building, making, or willingness to learn alongside students.
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Plan, facilitate, and assess project‑based learning experiences tied to math, science, and engineering principles.
  • Supervise students in fabrication, welding, and electric vehicle projects, ensuring safety and skill development.
  • Connect curriculum standards to authentic, real‑world challenges.
  • Collaborate with facilitators, mentors, and industry partners to enrich programming.
  • Support and coordinate after‑school and evening (“twilight”) sessions, scheduled in advance and shared among staff.
  • Assist in maintaining tools, equipment, and shop organization.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students to foster resilience and confidence.
Why Join MINDDRIVE?

This is not a standard teaching job. At MINDDRIVE, you’ll still use your teaching skills – but in a space where students are learning by doing, creativity is valued, and relationships matter more than test scores. It’s a chance to reimagine teaching and help students believe in themselves by building things that matter.
