Job Description
The Student Affairs department at the School of Medicine is seeking an experienced Academic Advisor (Education Team Coordinator). The selected candidate will provide a high level of initiative, organization, detail, and student service while providing high-quality work. Additionally, the selected candidate will embrace and infuse diversity, equity, and inclusion within the higher education setting.
Duties- Advise approximately 100 students in an intense, year-round, accelerated medical school curriculum
- Provide both academic and personal guidance to students and connect students with resources when appropriate
- Work in partnership with faculty, Councils and other departments within the School of Medicine and its affiliates regarding student concerns and curriculum
- Understand School of Medicine and UMKC policy, and be able to effectively explain policy to students and faculty
- Monitor course progression, enrollment accuracy, and other data-related tasks
- Coordinate class meetings and yearly events for students within the School
- Other duties as assigned, both scheduled and ad‑hoc, as pertinent to department‑wide Student Affairs tasks and goals
Bachelor's degree required and at least 1 year of experience;
Ability to keyboard proficiently and comfortably work within multiple data systems is necessary.
Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Education, or related field preferred. Three years of experience working within higher education administration is preferred.
Anticipated Hiring RangeUp to $46,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
