ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE/full PROFESSOR of ELECTRICAL & COMPUTER ENGINEERING, Tenure-Eligible / UMKC School of Science & Engineering / Division of Energy, Matter & Systems

The Division of Energy, Matter and Systems (EMS) in the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) is seeking candidates in quantum computing, wireless communication, robotics, and VLSI/analog systems for a tenure‑track/tenure‑eligible faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level to start in Fall 2026.

Job Description

We seek faculty with backgrounds in emerging domains, including quantum computing, wireless communication, robotics, and VLSI/analog systems. Successful applicants will have access to state‑of‑the‑art lab facilities and will be expected to provide continuous external funding for novel architectures, algorithms, and hardware solutions addressing modern communication networks, autonomous systems, and integrated circuit technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Commit to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in ECE and related areas.
  • Develop and sustain an extramurally funded research program.
  • Mentor undergraduate/graduate students and post‑doctoral fellows in research and advanced pedagogy.
  • Engage in discipline, division, school, or university services appropriate to the position.
  • Advance the goals and strategic plans of SSE and UMKC.
Qualifications

All candidates: must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering or closely related discipline as of the start date.

Associate or Full Professor: must meet all Assistant Professor qualifications plus successful grant applications/extramural funding, peer‑reviewed publications, mentorship of graduate students/postdoc fellows, and strong student evaluations from didactic teaching.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications, experience, and evidence of success in externally funded research. This is a 9‑month, benefit‑eligible, full‑time (1.0) faculty appointment eligible for tenure and promotion.
