Overview

University Health Physicians
, an academic group practice affiliated with the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine in conjunction with its major teaching facility Truman Medical Centers/University Health (TMC/UH), seeks a full-time Psychiatrist to join our medical staff. The position primarily provides psychiatric services at our TMC BHAC (inpatient psychiatric unit). UHP is the primary physician group for Truman Medical Centers/University Health in Kansas City, MO, and serves as the safety net healthcare system for Jackson County/Kansas City, MO.

UHP/UMKC supports several residencies; many of our physicians have teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team that includes psychiatry residents, medical students, psychologists, nurses, recreational therapists and medical social workers.
  • Provide occasional supplemental coverage on TMC BHAC and/or TMC Consultation Liaison Service (CL) when staff are on vacation.
  • Act as primary collaborating physician with one or more of our psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMNHP/APRN) and receive an additional stipend, if desired.
  • Rotate as primary TMC CL attending for the teaching service and provide care at NKC BHAC in a hospitalist/non-teaching role, if appropriate.
  • Participate in the call system (approximately 1 weekend per month, or 2 out of every three months for additional pay).
  • Participate in hospital-based committees and provide lectures to other medical specialties when encouraged.
Qualifications
  • Graduated from an accredited medical school.
  • Completed a residency in psychiatry.
