OverviewChildrens Mercy Kansas City (CMKC) — Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases is seeking two BC/BE Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialists at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor. The successful candidates should have strong clinical skills and a demonstrated ability to contribute to an academic environment.
Responsibilities- Inpatient consultations and outpatient visits in the Infectious Diseases clinic.
- Care for approximately 1700 outpatients annually, including patients at the International Adoption, Special Immunology, and Travel Medicine Clinics.
- Involve in teaching medical students, pediatric residents, and fellows; participate in graduate medical education.
- Engage in academic endeavors including bench and clinical research, quality improvement activities, and antimicrobial stewardship.
- Collaborate with division staff and affiliated laboratories and participate in ongoing grant-funded studies as applicable.
- Contribute to a collegial, diverse, and inclusive clinical environment with a focus on excellence and patient care.
- Board certified/board eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases (BC/BE).
- Academic appointment at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor.
- Strong clinical skills with a track record or potential for teaching and scholarly activity.
- Willingness to participate in antimicrobial stewardship and related programs.
- Commitment to excellence, integrity, collegiality, antiracism, and inclusion of individuals with diverse backgrounds.
The Division staff currently consists of 11 , 3 postdoctoral fellows in its accredited Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship training program, 4 practitioners, 2 Pharm
D, and a PhD. Seven research coordinators support the research efforts. The Division has a strong collaborative relationship with the CMKC Clinical Microbiology Laboratory and its Director, and participates in NIH RADxUp, Missouri AAP, and IMPAACT initiatives. We are also a CDC National Vaccine Surveillance Network site with ongoing funding from extramural foundations and Biopharma.
Infectious diseases faculty, fellows, and APRNs care for approximately 1700 outpatients annually (including International Adoption, Special Immunology, and Travel Medicine Clinics) and see over 1500 new inpatient consults annually (including ~300 on the Immune Compromised Host service).
