Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Facility Construction Inspector II, we'll count on you to:
- Demonstrate familiarity with a broad spectrum of construction materials, methods and processes for buildings and facilities
- Conduct inspection of electrical, mechanical/HVAC and site civil
- Collaborate with other field representatives or Project Managers
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
- Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses
- Provide guidance to less-experienced field staff as needed
- Conduct or coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing
- Compose reports with a daily log of activities, personnel, and pictures to send to clients daily
- Work may require 50% to 100% travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections outside of the Kansas City area
- Possibility for long-term project assignments
- Work outdoors and navigate construction sites in all seasons
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law
- Technical school or college degree
- Relevant industry certifications
- Ability to interpret construction schedules
- General accounting knowledge
- Familiarity with collaboration products such as One Drive, MS Teams, and One Note
- PDF editing software such as Revu Bluebeam or Adobe
- Strong written communication skills
- Eager to learn, ask questions, and perform new duties under supervision
- Exhibit professionalism with clients
- Exercise good judgment and discretion, and independently resolve problems and issues
- Utilize survey equipment to check and confirm construction
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years of experience
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Successful passing of drug screening prior to hire; subject to ongoing drug and alcohol testing
