Overview

Director of Construction & Project Development

We are a prominent Commercial and Industrial Real Estate Developer serving a wide range of market sectors nationwide.

Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: lead and manage all phases of construction projects, from pre-construction through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Oversight and Coordination: oversee and coordinate the work of third-party General Contractors, ensuring compliance with contract terms, schedules, and quality standards. Collaborate closely with design teams, including architects and engineers, to ensure design intent and project specifications are met. Manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services, and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Stakeholder Management: serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including clients, investors, and internal teams. Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders, providing regular updates and facilitating effective decision-making. Address and resolve any conflicts or disputes that may arise during the construction process.
  • Financial Management: develop and manage project budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting and cost control. Review and approve invoices, change orders, and other financial documents related to the project. Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising project quality or timelines.
  • Compliance and Safety: ensure all construction activities comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards. Promote a culture of safety on-site, conducting regular safety audits and enforcing compliance with safety protocols.
  • Quality Assurance: implement robust quality control procedures to ensure all work meets the company’s high standards of excellence. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and address any quality issues promptly.
  • Team Development: mentor and develop the construction management team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Provide guidance and support to team members, promoting collaboration and effective problem-solving.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering complex construction projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to travel as needed to oversee project sites and meet with stakeholders.
