The Superintendent is responsible for the daily operation of a job site, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. Supervises all direct labor positions on the assigned project and oversees any contracted work to ensure successful project completion.

Responsibilities
  • Study specifications to plan procedures for construction based on start and completion times, staffing requirements for each phase, and knowledge of available tools, equipment, and building methods.
  • Interact with the Project Manager to determine the project schedule; develop and utilize look-ahead schedules to assess progress and identify upcoming issues.
  • Coordinate the pre-construction meeting with the Project Manager prior to mobilization.
  • Direct procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Ensure all parties involved with the project are informed of construction issues and progress. This includes coordinating with supervisory personnel, craft personnel, subcontractors, and clients as needed to prevent delays and update on schedule and phasing requirements.
  • Work with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within the project workforce.
  • Collaborate with engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction problems and improve methods.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure conformity with specifications and schedules.
  • Manage the project based on progress reports, materials used, and costs; adjust work schedules accordingly.
  • Move personnel between projects to optimize staffing and manage labor costs; oversee crew mixes and assignments; terminate underperforming craft personnel per policy.
  • Prepare the Project Management Plan in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Ensure company policies (safety, equal opportunity, quality, housekeeping) are implemented consistently and maintained.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction-related field or equivalent, with at least 5 years of data center construction experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes and ability to read blueprints; valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
  • Understanding and application of building codes and design requirements; knowledge of subcontractors’ scopes and tolerances.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; basic Spanish preferred.
  • Administrative and management skills: progress monitoring, coordination, and proactive supervision of subordinates; integrity and ethical standards.
  • Problem-solving ability and teamwork orientation; strong interpersonal skills; organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency with office equipment and software; CMiC knowledge preferred.
  • Project experience with hospitals/medical facilities (>$10 million).
