Project Engineer , Mission Critical

Overview

JE Dunn’s Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) combines Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high-performing team focused on cutting-edge work for large Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor projects. The Project Engineer 2 will support routine construction and field execution responsibilities on projects, participating in general construction management, punch lists, and self-perform work to understand the building process and how JE Dunn executes projects.

• Learns and actively participates in safety and quality plans and culture, promoting an injury-free environment.
• Participates in project QA/QC planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks.
• Assists with estimating and change management, including quantity take-off and review of subcontractor proposals.
• Supports site activities such as monitoring crew size, self-perform hours, materials, quantity, and equipment.
• Participates in punch lists, city inspections, safety reviews, quality reviews, and documentation preparation.
• Posts drawings and specifications with the most recent information.
• Organizes and participates in project meetings and disseminates required documentation.
• Helps prepare project reports (daily/weekly), progress tracking, manpower, schedules, and equipment tracking to support scheduling.
• Performs periodic job-site observations with project leadership.
• Creates procurement logs, tracks shop drawings, and coordinates deliveries per project team directions.
• Provides progress updates to support scheduling and project closeout documentation (punch lists, O&M manuals, as-builts).
• Applies company best-practice standards and construction techniques; builds relationships with trades and project team members.
• Develops understanding of cross-functional roles and collaborates to contribute to project success.
• Incorporates Lean practices into regular activities and identifies opportunities for self-perform work.
• Supports additional responsibilities as part of Project Engineer 2 role.

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
• 2+ years of construction experience.
• Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of Lean processes and construction technology.
• Ability to apply fundamentals of construction management, self-perform, and labor productivity.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.

• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• May require travel or relocation; willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs.
• Exposure to extreme conditions (hot or cold); frequent activities include standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling; occasional screen time.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
