Are you passionate about helping kids learn, grow, and thrive? Join our Y Club before and after school program. This position plays a key role in creating a fun, safe, and supportive environment for elementary‑aged children. You’ll lead fun activities with a group of children, including crafts, sports, snack time and more.
Schedules are flexible and include weekday mornings before school and/or afternoons after school until 6:00 p.m. The program is located at Crossroads Charter Schools in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
Hourly Rates Range
: $14.00/hour minimum, with increases based on experience and education relevant to youth development.

Responsibilities- Provide direct supervision and lead a group of children in the program.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of participants by knowing participant locations at all times, enforcing safety regulations and procedures, applying behavior‑management techniques, and maintaining program equipment and facilities.
- Implement group activity plans; prepare materials, activities, and environments.
- Consistently model positive interactions and discipline by teaching and redirecting rather than scolding; firmly enforce rules while treating all children with dignity and respect.
- Adhere to all YMCA, licensing, and school district processes, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Positively identify individuals picking up before releasing children (use picture required).
- Identify emergency situations and respond quickly and appropriately.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and fellow YMCA team members.
- Be prompt and dependable, provide proper notice for time off, and coordinate coverage with supervisor.
- Clean and pick up program areas as needed.
- Report suspected child abuse, neglect, and unsafe conditions to appropriate authorities immediately.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Maintain a high school diploma or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
- Have previous experience working with school‑age children (e.g., babysitting, nanny, or other childcare programs).
- Demonstrate commitment to providing quality youth development services.
- Show public relations and leadership skills when working with program parents, school personnel, children, and co‑workers.
- Prefer experience working with diverse populations.
- Work well in a team environment and understand basic computer technology.
- Plan, lead, and participate in a range of activities in outdoor and indoor settings requiring physical stamina, alertness, and emotional stability.
- Comply with tuberculosis test risk assessment and state health assessment form within thirty days (in Missouri).
