Y Club Youth Development Leader –
YMCA of Greater Kansas City
Passionate about helping children learn, grow, and thrive, you’ll guide elementary‑aged kids in our Y Club after‑school program. Your role creates a safe, fun, and supportive environment while fostering positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and team members.
Work ScheduleWeekday afternoons until 6:00 pm. Flexible scheduling within these hours is available.
Compensation & BenefitsHourly Rate: $14.00 /hr minimum (increases based on experience and education).

- Provide direct supervision and lead a group of children in the program.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of participants by monitoring locations, enforcing safety regulations, applying behavior management techniques, and maintaining equipment.
- Implement group activity plans; prepare materials and environments.
- Model positive interactions and discipline, teaching and redirecting rather than scolding.
- Adhere to all YMCA, licensing, and school district policies.
- Verify pickup identities with image required.
- Identify and respond to emergencies promptly.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and colleagues.
- Maintain punctuality and reliability; provide proper notice for time off.
- Clean and upkeep program areas as needed.
- Report suspected child abuse or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Minimum age of 18.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Kansas).
- One year or more of college preferred.
- Experience working with school‑age children (e.g., babysitting, nanny, childcare program).
- Commitment to providing quality youth development services.
- Demonstrated public relations and leadership skills.
- Experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Team‑player ability.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Plan, lead, and participate in indoor/outdoor activities requiring physical stamina, alertness, and emotional stability.
- Complete tuberculosis test risk assessment and state health assessment within 30 days (in Missouri).
