Job Summary

The Commodity Manager – Indirect & Packaging is a high visibility role, responsible for managing the sourcing and supply strategy for Indirect & Packaging across all 4 manufacturing sites in the Americas. The Commodity Manager will partner with both Functional leadership and Operations leadership to develop strategies for the supply of Indirect, Packaging, MRO items as well as other related products or services.

The Commodity Manager will work with cross‑functional teams from Operations and Finance to drive the sourcing and negotiation of Indirect & Packaging supporting CST’s operations in the Americas. The Commodity Manager will drive analytics to identify ways to minimize “total costs of ownership” (TCO) while maximizing service; manage the relationships and performance with the strategic suppliers in these commodities; and develop partnerships with those core firms that truly support CST’s needs.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Interact with other Commodity Managers, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and other functional areas in each division/unit to develop and implement commodity strategies which deliver target performance levels at optimum overall costs.
  • Work across divisions/units to identify opportunities for synergy and drive program implementation.
  • Lead the development of RFQs, drive analytics and TCO comparisons, and drive the implementation of projects/strategies for Indirect, Packaging, MRO items as well as other related products or services.
  • Develop and negotiate vendor contracts to drive performance, secure productivity commitments, and protect CST against risks.
  • Act as a liaison between strategic sourcing department and management to deliver proper specifications, quotes, products, costs, and delivery terms.
  • Participate in strategic sourcing initiatives to align negotiations, new supplier selection, and overall Supply Chain strategy.
  • Participate and support the SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations) process
  • Ability to travel domestically (up to 25%) to engage stakeholders and drive programs. This would include CST manufacturing site visits and supplier visits when necessary
  • Other duties as requested.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management or related discipline or experience; MBA or Post‑Graduate education preferred.
  • 5+ years of recent sourcing or commodity management experience.
  • Experience managing Indirect, Packaging, MRO items as well as other related products or services, and engaging with senior executive leadership.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands and communicate and interact effectively to multiple stakeholders from shop floor personnel to Senior Management
  • Results driven.
Preferred
  • Manufacturing operations background, with shop floor experience preferred.
  • Deep experience in contract negotiations, cost modeling, and value chain analysis.
  • Experience in multi-site operations preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative, open‑minded, and flexible.
  • Leader purposeful but with empathy.
  • Business minded with focus on improving and simplifying processes.
  • ERP/MRP experience, application knowledge of purchasing, materials management modules
  • Microsoft Dynamics D365 working knowledge desirable.
