Position: Employee Benefits Manager

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Small Group Benefits Account Manager to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a client-focused environment, understands the complexities of group health benefits, and excels at managing relationships with small business clients (typically 2–100 employees). You will be the key point of contact for clients, brokers, and carriers while ensuring a smooth and proactive benefits experience.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in employee benefits, group health insurance, or related field (small-mid group experience preferred)
  • Active Life & Health license (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
  • Strong knowledge of medical, dental, vision, life, and ancillary group products
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and follow-up abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and agency management systems (e.g., Applied, Benefit Point, Ease, Employee Navigator)
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact for small group clients, delivering exceptional service and timely support.
  • Manage the full benefits lifecycle, including renewals, open enrollment, plan changes, and carrier communication.
  • Prepare and present renewal strategies, benefit comparisons, and cost analyses for clients.
  • Process eligibility changes, additions, and terminations across multiple carriers.
  • Coordinate and lead employee enrollment meetings (virtual or on-site).
  • Troubleshoot billing issues, claims escalations, and service concerns.
  • Maintain accurate client records, documentation, and CRM updates.
  • Support brokers/producers with retention, cross-selling opportunities, and client strategy.
  • Stay current on industry trends, compliance updates, and carrier product offerings.
