Kutak Rock is seeking a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant in its Kansas City office. This position provides support to attorneys in our Public Finance practice in collaboration and coordination with other staff members. The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented professional who looks to grow their career in a collegial and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities- Prepare, proofread and/or edit legal transactional documents, correspondence, and/or contracts in draft and final form to incorporate handwritten or typed revisions
- Assist with compiling transcripts, reviewing, summarizing, and coding pertinent documents
- Create and manage virtual closing rooms/collaboration sites
- Prepare legal documents for e-mail transmission to clients
- Identify and compile documents for closings
- Assemble signature pages and final documents for transcripts
- Handle confidential records and information with discretion
- Organize and maintain extensive sets of files, both electronic and paper
- Maintain emails and documents within the Firm’s Document Management System (Net Docs) and properly profile each document pursuant to the Firm’s Document Retention Policy
- General office duties, such as preparing scans, copies, printing emails and documents
- Filing Real Estate documents and/or UCC searches/filings
- Assist with other tasks as assigned or necessary within the Department
- Flexible with hours when work demands, and other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work under pressure of deadlines and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; aptitude to interface with lawyers, clients, and staff
- Keen attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Ability to manage workload effectively for multiple attorneys
- Corporative and able to thrive in a team-oriented environment
- Adaptability to each attorney’s working style
- Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of PC and Windows applications, especially Microsoft Office 365, Word, and other Office products
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures
Education and Experience
- High School or equivalent required; college degree preferred
- Experience in legal secretarial field preferred
Status: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $45,000-$68,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
