Overview:

Virtual nurses are registered, highly skilled nursing professionals responsible for delivering patient care and support for the in-person healthcare team via telemedicine. Working from an off-unit location, using advanced, secure, two-way, interactive, audio-visual technology, the virtual nurse partners with in-person nurses to provide illness management, health promotion, and education for patients and families who require care. Virtual nurses collaborate with the in-person healthcare team to advocate for resolution of identified patient and family needs and to ensure patient care tasks are completed accurately and timely.

The virtual nurse utilizes the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate nursing care for patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Virtually utilize the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate plan of care for the patient and family that promotes optimal patient outcomes.
  • Meet the educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs in partnership with the in person care team.
  • Collaborate to maintain an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family-centered.
  • Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality.
  • This position will have a varied shift (8 hours), including weekends. No holidays.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. Direct care nurses hired after this date without a BSN, must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date. and 5-7 years experience Pediatric Inpatient Medical-Surgical or Critical Care experience
