Overview:Utilizes nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide comprehensive, age appropriate nursing care for assigned patients on a variety of medical/surgical inpatient nursing units. Assists with the shift supervision of nonprofessional personnel as necessary.
The Inpatient Float Pool provides a unique opportunity to work with a variety of pediatric patients in a variety of units. We fill in staffing gaps wherever they occur, finding out where we are assigned to work a few hours before the start of each shift.

- 4 West
- 4 Henson/Hall
- 4 Sutherland
- 5 Henson/Hall
- 5 Sutherland
- 6 Henson
- 6 Hall
- Children's Mercy Kansas Inpatient
- Low-acuity patients in the NICU
- Low-acuity patients in the Adele Hall Emergency Department and Children's Mercy Kansas Emergency Department
- ED Boarding

- Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive, age-appropriate plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.
- Meets the educational needs of the patient and family, utilizing appropriate principles of teaching/learning.
- Promotes safe, efficient, family-centered care.
- Delegates nursing care based on knowledge of staff qualifications/competency and patient care requirements.
- Participates in performance improvement activities and attends education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees.
- Associate's Degree ADN Required. Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training or
