Description
SUMMARY:
This position is primarily responsible for performing under limited supervision in the assembly of ground support equipment. This position will also be providing instructional lead to assembly workers pertaining to the assembly of dashes in towing tractors by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs
- Diagnoses, rebuilds and repairs vehicles and equipment
- Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment
- Prepares and maintains records and reports
- Use current methods, materials, tools and techniques for vehicle repair and maintenance
- Knowledge of Paint and body work
- Knowledge of mechanical design and fabrication, electrical systems including computerized induction/ignition systems
- Use of power and hand tools, diagnostic equipment as available
- Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications
- Ability to communication effectively verbally and in writing
- Follow safety practices and procedures
- Perform other duties as required
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (The minimal acceptable level of education, experience, and certifications necessary for employment).
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior knowledge and understanding of common automotive/mechanical concepts
- Ability to diagnose problems and make repairs
- Ability to read blueprints and diagrams
- Ability and willingness to cross-train and work in multiple roles
- Prepare and maintain records and reports
- Physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials
- Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision
- Use of safety glasses and steel toed shoes required
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and customers
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to hot and cold climates
- Exposure to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable
