Schedule: NIGHT SHIFT (Minimum 6-12 Months)
Pay: $30 – $40 per hour (Based on experience and level)
We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Fiber Splicers to support critical maintenance operations on active telecommunications networks across the Kansas City metro area. This role is essential for ensuring network integrity and requires dedicated availability during off-peak, overnight maintenance windows to minimize service disruption.

The Critical Work (Night Shift Focus)You will be responsible for troubleshooting, testing, and repairing faults on active fiber optic infrastructure, often working solo or with minimal supervision.
- Diagnose and repair cable plant failures on live, active networks.
- Utilize OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) and end-of-line testing to identify faults, signal loss, and resolve distributed split network issues.
- Complex Splicing:
- Execute complex splicing operations (color-for-color and off-color) in difficult enclosures.
- Perform high-count re-entries (
144ct and 288ct
), ribbonizing, and butt splicing
. - Build, populate, and swap fiber cases/enclosures and manage tie point connections.
- Physical & Field Work:
- Perform work both aerial and underground
, requiring the ability to climb poles/ladders and work in confined spaces. - Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Experience: 2+ years hands-on fiber splicing (aerial/UG).
- Skill Benchmark: Can complete 144ct loose tube re-entry (ribbon/butt splice) in under 4 hours.
- Autonomy: Can troubleshoot distributed split networks independently.
- Certification: OSHA 10 certified.
- Commitment: Comfortable working alone during night maintenance windows and willing to work nights for 6+ months.
- Experience: 5+ years fiber splicing with demonstrated leadership.
- Skill Benchmark: Can complete 288ct re-entry ribbon butt splice in under 4 hours.
- Leadership: Can train and oversee other technicians and manage multiple sites/crews during maintenance windows.
- Schedule:
MUST be available for Night Shift work for a minimum of 6–12 months. - Technical: Ability to distinguish fiber colors and possess OSHA 10 certification
. - Logistics: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
