Automotive Technician, Maintenance Worker
Overview
Geis Dealer Group is seeking a dependable and hardworking Shop Porter to join our team. The Shop Porter plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment in our service department. Responsibilities include cleaning and detailing heavy-duty trucks, emptying trash cans, assisting technicians, and performing general shop upkeep duties. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Clean and detail heavy-duty trucks, including washing, waxing, and interior cleaning.
- Empty trash cans and dispose of waste materials properly. As well as keeping scrap metal and recycling bins emptied once per week or as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in and around the shop area, including sweeping, mopping, and general maintenance.
- Outside trash cans should be emptied at least twice a week, or as needed.
- Inspect the fence line weekly and make sure there is no damage. Report any damage found. Pick up and throw away any trash along the fence line.
- Dispose of trash or clutter around the compactor area.
- Assist technicians with moving and staging trucks as needed.
- Keep cleaning and detailing supplies stocked and organized.
- Ensure shop tools and equipment are stored properly after use.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Service Manager or Shop Foreman.
- All trash cans in service and body shop are to be dumped daily.
- Entrance aisles are to be swept and mopped once a week.
- Clean cobwebs from walls in service, parts and body shop.
- Wash bay floors, walls, and hoses cleaned once weekly.
- Maintain floor scrubber cleanliness, make sure dirty water is drained and unity is full of cleaner.
- The oil room floor is clean of fluids, drain pans are empty, clean, and placed on rack.
- Empty oil filter drain cart and place filters in scrap bin.
- Clean DPF machine inside and out; replace the filters as needed.
- Ensure the soot collector bucket is empty.
- Clean flywheel machine: verify machine is full of cutting fluid and replace as needed.
- Tool room free of clutter and trash.
- Clean all areas not being maintained by technicians, clean against walls between bays.
- Clean corners of shop; ensure the shop is free of clutter.
- Other duties may be assigned accordingly.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate pressure washers, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and to perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Experience in truck or automotive detailing is a plus but not required.
