Description
PurposeResponsible for the over-sight and leadership of direct services, supervision and development of case management and other related services to individuals in the community who are diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness. Works with Executive Director of Crisis Servies to design and develop programs to enhance and develop intensive community based services to individuals who have higher rates of hospital admissions, dual diagnosis, involvement in the criminal justice system and have other higher needs.
Accountabilities- Supervises staff providing direct services to clients who have higher needs and who act as liaisons to community partners.
- Leads daily team and treatment planning meetings to review progress on cases
- Support and provide coverage for the other functions in the crisis and access department, as needed
- Holds and models a philosophy of compassion and flexibility in the delivery of care.
- Able and willing to be available and supportive to staff with flexible hours, as needed.
- Facilitates on-going collaboration and acts as a Boundary Spanner with Law Enforcement, Court Services and other key community partners
- On-call participation and scheduling for after hours crisis services
- Co-supervises nursing staff with Clinical Nursing Coordinator
- Provides direct (individual, group) services to persons enrolled on the ACT team as needed.
- Meets regularly with Executive Director for weekly supervision, challenging clinical decisions and coordination of client admission and assessment processes
- Manages and maintains clinical certifications for crisis care.
- Contributes to the provision of Trauma Informed Care.
- Participates in management functions of clinical services to adults.
- Participates in hiring and training of staff.
- Provides crisis intervention, assessments,community/mobile outreach services, and short-term crisis treatment as needed to meet challenging needs
- Assists with the development of diversion plans to avert hospitalizations and/or arrests/time in jail for adults on the ACT team, provides consultation regarding hospital admissions and discharges
- Works with community/government agencies to ensure appropriate services are provided to consumers.
- Confers with various Center staff to ensure optimum consumer care and documentation accountability
- Leads team in maintaining organization’s required productivity standards
- Oversees completions of all required documentation in a timely manner
- Attends and participates in behavioral health court, providing clinical insight and evaluation for clients who are enrolled in the court.
- Participates in local and state government planning regarding new initiatives, with a strong emphasis on initiatives targeting justice involved clients.
- Ensures staff and program compliance with Medicaid, State licensing regulations, grant and other contractual standards, and agency standards (including productivity, documentation and quality of services).
- Monitors program data and develops reports to ensure appropriate accountability.
- Must be a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
- Must have experience with crisis care and/or services provided to justice involved clients. With preference for previous supervision and/or training experience in the field
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills. Includes ability to adapt style of communication.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with both Center staff and various community partners.
- Ability to provide leadership and direction for programs, planning and supervisory purposes.
- Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences.
- Must be able to safely perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Demonstrated high level of organizational and program development skills.
- Clearance through the Kansas Child Abuse/Neglect Register, criminal background check, reference verification and all other screening and employment processes.
- Possesses working knowledge of roles of various regulatory agencies affecting the functioning of a community service organization.
- Ability to analyze data and recommend strategies that reflect an adherence to standards, outcomes, and efficiency to resource applications and budgeting.
