Overview
The University of Kansas Alzheimer's Disease Center (KU ADC) is one of 31 nationally designated centers for AD research. The KU ADC's vision is to impact the lives of every patient and family dealing with Alzheimer's in the region and across the state of Kansas through our research, education, and clinical care with the goal of finding a cure. We are a comprehensive center at the forefront of clinical trials, lifestyle intervention trials, drug and translational research and basic science research.

- Lead recruitment and retention efforts for participants on NIH-funded studies and independent investigator-initiated projects in collaboration with the KU ADC Recruitment Division.
- Utilize knowledge of studies and clinical diagnoses to determine participant eligibility for studies and schedule comprehensive visit schedules for participants.
- Conduct Informed Consent Interview with patient and caregiver following ADC SOPs for obtaining consent from cognitively normal and cognitively impaired individuals; assess capacity to provide consent and utilize surrogate consent form when appropriate.
- Accurately collect and maintain data in electronic databases and paper files according to protocol and university policies, including maintaining regulatory documents and coordinating with KUMC Human Subject Committee policies.
- Communicate and educate staff and supported investigators on new and ongoing projects, including providing updates on metrics.
- Assist in reviewing invoices for all study-related activities.
- Serve as mentor to research assistants and students by training staff, meeting regularly to provide guidance, and offering feedback as needed.
- Assist Clinical Core leadership in drafting and implementing standard operating procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Work Experience:
Four (4) years of relevant experience in a basic science or health-related field. Education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Work Experience:
Experience using medical terminology. - Clinical research experience is highly desirable.
- Experience with regulatory requirements appropriate for position (e.g., OHRP, FDA).

Coverage begins on day one for health, dental, and vision insurance and includes health expense accounts with generous employer contributions if the employee participates in a qualifying health plan. Paid time off, including vacation and sick, begins accruing upon hire, plus ten paid holidays. One paid discretionary day is available after six months of employment, and paid time off for bereavement, jury duty, military service, and parental leave is available after 12 months of employment.
