Position: CT Technologist- Weekend Option- Days

Job : R-48200 Job Type: Part time Location: Kansas City, Kansas

Position Summary / Career Interest

Shift: Weekend Option – Sat/Sun 7:30 am – 8 pm. The Weekend CT Technologist is responsible for producing cross‑sectional imaging for diagnosis. Procedures are performed at various locations across the campus. CT Technologists participate in ongoing training and education, requiring a minimum 12‑month commitment and completion of orientation training.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Acts as a liaison for communication between other departments and assists when called upon for special projects approved by Radiology leadership.
  • Assists with developing continuing education strategies within the CT Department to enrich staff.
  • Provides teaching and learning opportunities to fellow technologists and students.
  • Ensures all staff operate equipment optimally and safely by adhering to policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Operates CT scanners and auxiliary devices within the scope of designated locations, ensuring radiation exposure is set to provide the lowest dose for reasonable image quality under guidance of staff radiologists.
  • Maintains an organized patient flow, coordinates examinations efficiently, and performs exams in a sequence that minimizes patient stay.
  • Has an excellent working knowledge of contrast reactions and responds immediately to patient needs.
  • Completes mandatory educational assignments as provided by supervisor or senior supervisor.
  • Performs routine CT procedures at a very high standard, with increasing ability to perform specialty studies.
  • Sets equipment parameters, assesses and educates patients, ensures accurate patient preparation, and provides venous access for safe contrast administration.
  • Supports KU Hospital’s Mission and Vision and the goal of achieving “World Class” status.
  • May perform additional duties as required.
  • Executes professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
  • Hands the essential functions of the job, not exhaustive; duties may vary by department.
Required

Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology
  • Experience performing basic CT procedures
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • 1–3 years of large facility experience
Required Licensure and Certification
  • Computed Tomography (CT) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) – Kansas Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) within 90 days
  • Radiography (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Preferred Licensure and Certification
  • CT Certification within 180 days
Knowledge Requirements
  • High computer skills related to RIS, PACS, EMR
