The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of a growing healthcare organization with multiple locations across the state. This position is primarily responsible for all aspects of grant accounting, while also supporting budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a dynamic, mission-driven healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities Grant Accounting & Compliance- Manage all accounting functions related to federal, state, and private grants
- Ensure compliance with grant agreements, funding requirements, and reporting deadlines
- Prepare and submit grant financial reports and reimbursement requests
- Track grant budgets, expenditures, and variances across multiple programs and locations
- Collaborate with program managers to ensure accurate allocation of grant funds
- Assist with month-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
- Analyze monthly financial results and prepare variance explanations
- Support the preparation of internal and external financial reports
- Maintain accurate and timely general ledger records
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
- Monitor budget-to-actual results and identify trends or risks
- Support financial planning efforts for grant-funded and operational activities
- Work closely with finance leadership, program staff, and external auditors
- Assist with grant-related audits and financial reviews
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including grant accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP and grant compliance requirements
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial variance analysis
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or government-funded organizations
- CPA or progress toward CPA a plus
- Experience working in a multi-location or multi-entity environment
