Opportunity

The Grid Integration Specialist (Integration Specialist) will act as a subject‑matter expert within the Policy & Regulatory team, delivering exceptional market research, regulatory knowledge, advising, and a comprehensive understanding of North American interconnection requirements and grid integration processes. The Specialist will focus on Independent Power Producers, large load customers, utilities, public utility commissions, FERC, and industrial market and energy research. Responsibilities include executing client interconnection applications, regulatory strategy, and portfolio strategy, and conducting continuous policy, regulatory, and energy market research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside the Practice Leader and MTC team to implement the strategic direction and impact of the Policy & Regulatory group across markets.
  • Continuously refine and deliver the Policy & Regulatory project portfolio and value propositions in accordance with changing policy and regulatory landscapes across North America.
  • Support proposal development and pursuit of client opportunities requiring premium‑rate advisory consulting services with exceptional value delivery.
  • Deliver consistency of the high‑value, premium client experience from initial bid through to project closeout.
  • Support the integration of Policy & Regulatory value propositions into other pillars of the MTC team, and vice versa.
  • Lead the execution of project work or act as a subject‑matter expert in grid interconnection advisory services, interpretation and guidance on Large Generator and Load Interconnection Procedures across US‑based utilities and Canadian‑based utilities.
  • Support client advisory for large load feasibility studies and grid integration support.
  • Provide policy interpretation and guidance and regulatory support contributing to program and framework development for utility, industrial, and water sector clients.
  • Advise on regulatory decisions and interpret the permissibility of technologies, market rules, and project development optionality for energy clients.
  • Conduct benchmarking and research‑based advisory services through publicly accessible regulator databases.
  • Support planning and execution activities of the Policy & Regulatory expansion strategy within MTC across energy, water, and industrial sectors.
  • Support the development of the expansion strategy through market research.
  • Support business development strategy and outreach activities to drive business line expansion.
  • Remain abreast of industry policy, regulatory developments, major trends, and competitor activity to align service offerings and growth strategy.
  • Remain informed on relevant Stantec business lines to identify collaboration and expansion opportunities.
  • Work with the Sector Leader to develop the business strategy, including growth target KPIs.
  • Support pursuit of business opportunities across new market segments, including utility interconnection project management and North American policy advising.
  • Advise on energy transition strategies, roadmaps, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Conduct market research, jurisdictional analysis, and process recommendations as required.
  • Contribute to growth of the team by fostering new skills and coaching peers.
  • Conduct career development planning quarterly with the Practice Leader.
  • Lead components of project execution ensuring reporting and adherence to Stantec’s protocols.
  • Act as account manager or team member for key accounts, leading growth plans and pull‑through plans for MTC services.
