Job Description SummaryThe School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center seeks part-time nursing educators to join our progressive and innovative faculty, staff, and students. Adjunct Clinical Instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating students in the clinical or classroom environment. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Department Chair. The position of Adjunct Instructor is considered a temporary position for the term of the contract.
Job Description KeyRoles and Responsibilities
- Facilitate student learning through the established course methodologies, such as lectures, discussions, group activities.
- Provide timely, well‑constructed feedback for course assignments.
- Collaborate with department faculty to ensure alignment with program objectives.
- Foster critical thinking, analytical skills, communication, and problem‑solving abilities among students.
- Create a learning environment conducive to effective learning within resource limits.
- Enforce appropriate policies and expectations for students in compliance with KUMC policies.
- Utilize technology tools effectively, including learning management systems, e‑mail, and office software.
- Evaluate student progress using established methods.
- Maintain accurate records as required by administrative guidelines and legal standards.
- Work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying educational levels.
- Other duties as assigned.
The work assignment for this position is in an online setting or in the classroom setting on the School of Nursing Kansas City or Salina campus, depending on the course modality (asynchronous online or in‑person).
Required QualificationsEducation: Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of Kansas or a multi‑state RN license issued by another Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license issued by the State of Kansas.
- Advanced Practice Specialty Certification, if teaching advanced practice clinical practicums.
Work Experience:
- At least 1 year of relevant patient care experience.
- Strong patient care and organizational skills.
