TEAM LEADER- EMERGENCY SERVICE (FT Nights) – Riverside Healthcare
As the RN Team Leader in the Emergency Department, you will coordinate and lead nursing staff to deliver high‑quality patient care in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. You will oversee clinical operations, ensure adherence to best practices, support staff development, and foster a collaborative team atmosphere.
Responsibilities- Supervise and mentor nursing staff, providing guidance in clinical decision‑making.
- Coordinate patient care activities and facilitate communication among the healthcare team.
- Monitor patient flow and ensure timely assessments and interventions.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist with staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities.
- Assist pre‑hospital providers, law enforcement officials as needed; demonstrate knowledge of ED law and follow the chain of command.
- Address patient and family concerns, ensuring a patient‑centered approach to care.
- Perform clinical skills including suturing, sterile pack set‑ups, wound irrigations, IV initiation, catheter insertion/maintenance, NG insertions, chest tube maintenance, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, intubation, splinting and immobilization of extremities, and other procedures as required.
- Minimum of 3 years Emergency Services experience.
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- TNCC or TNS within 18 months.
- ENPC within 24 months.
- ECRN within 24 months (only ECRN’s can answer the EMS communication radio).
- Mental Health First Aid or Crisis Prevention Institute Certified (CPI) within first year.
- PALS within first year.
- ACLS within first year.
- New Graduate RNs starting on or after 1/1/25 must earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within 3 years of start date.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
- Professional nursing certification in area of specialty preferred.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Chemicals – refer to MSDS manual.
- Video Display Terminals – average exposure.
- Blood and Body Fluids – high risk; use universal precautions.
- TB or Airborne Pathogens – high risk; use protective wear.
- Speech – required to communicate with patients, families, staff, MDs.
- Vision – required to observe patients, read reports, etc.
- Smell – to detect incontinence, vomitus, blood, etc.
- Hearing – to hear alarms, patient verbalizations, etc.
- Touch – to assess patients and distinguish temperature.
- Sit: 10 % of time, max 30 min.
- Stand: 40 % of time, max 60 min.
- Walk: 25 % of time, max 10 min.
- Lift: 10 % of time, max 5 min; lift up to 35 lbs frequently.
- Other activities – twist, kneel, crawl, drive, squat, climb, bend, reach above shoulders with specified percentages and max times.
USD $37.17 – $49.30 per hour.
