Overview
Riverside Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Interventional Procedures Registered Nurse (RN) to join our multidisciplinary team in Kankakee, Illinois. This position involves providing high-quality patient care across a range of procedures, including cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology, and neurovascular procedures. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, multi-procedural environment, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care before, during, and after various interventional procedures.
This role demands strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to manage patient care across a diverse range of specialties.
- Patient Assessment and Care Planning:
Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychological needs prior to interventional procedures. Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes. - Procedure Assistance and Treatment Administration:
Assist interventional physicians during procedures by administering medications, operating specialized equipment, and closely monitoring patient status. Administer treatments and procedures as ordered by the provider, ensuring accurate, timely interventions. - Patient Monitoring:
Continuously monitor patients' vital signs, physical condition, and response to interventions during and after procedures. Accurately document all observations, interventions, and changes in patient status in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. - Coordination of Care and
Collaboration:
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care effectively. Participate in team meetings, including discharge planning, and contribute to treatment plan adjustments as necessary. - Patient and Family
Education:
Educate patients and families about procedures, medical conditions, treatment options, and post-discharge care. Ensure patients fully understand their care plans and provide support to help them manage their recovery. - Patient
Experience:
Engage with patients and families in a professional and empathetic manner to promote comfort, trust, and a positive experience. Address concerns promptly and ensure that the care environment supports patients' emotional and physical well-being. - Emergency Response:
Respond quickly and effectively to emergent situations, such as cardiac arrest or medical complications, by initiating appropriate nursing interventions, including life-saving procedures and patient stabilization. - Compliance, Safety, and Infection Control:
Maintain strict adherence to all regulatory standards, infection control protocols, and safety measures. Ensure the procedural environment is clean and sterile to prevent the spread of infection and promote patient safety. - Documentation:
Maintain precise, detailed documentation of patient assessments, interventions, treatments, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and hospital documentation standards. - Flexibility and Team Contribution:
Demonstrate flexibility by adapting to different assignments within the professional scope of duties. Actively contribute to a positive work environment through collaboration, constructive feedback, and mutual respect. Must be available when needed for on-call shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Inventory and Equipment Management:
Assist with restocking supplies, checking equipment for functionality, and maintaining an organized and efficient procedural environment. - Continuing Education Participation:
Attend department meetings, professional development programs, and continuing education to stay updated on advancements in interventional care and nursing best practices.
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- * New Graduate RNs starting on or after 1/1/25 must earn BSN within 3 years of start date.*
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred*
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum of 1 year previous Cath Lab or Critical Care experience or 2 years critical care preferred.
