Position: ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Overview

The Accounting Manager is a key leadership role within Riverside Healthcare’s Finance Department, responsible for overseeing core accounting operations including payroll, accounts payable, monthly financial reporting, and audit coordination. This position provides direct supervision to accounting and payroll staff, ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, and supports the organization’s financial integrity through accurate, timely, and transparent reporting.

This role focuses on managerial oversight, strategic financial analysis, and staff development responsibilities. As a salaried professional, the Accounting Manager may be required to work beyond standard FTE hours to meet operational and reporting deadlines.

Essential Duties:

Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations

  • Complete monthly financial statements, dashboard metrics, and narrative analysis within established timelines.
  • Prepare, review, and enter monthly and annual journal entries.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare audit schedules and act as a primary liaison for internal and external auditors.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to external parties, including bondholder reporting, IRS filings, and other regulatory requirements.

Payroll Oversight

  • Oversee payroll processing functions to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll transactions.
  • Ensure payroll transactions are properly recorded and reconciled within the general ledger.
  • Review payroll-related reports and analyses to support financial decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with Human Resources to resolve payroll discrepancies and improve payroll processes.

Accounts Payable & Capital Budget Oversight

  • Oversee the Accounts Payable process and corresponding staff to ensure accurate vendor payments and expense controls.
  • Coordinate and oversee the annual capital budget, including tracking, reporting, and compliance with approved budgets.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and document accounting and payroll processes that enhance workflow efficiency while maintaining a high level of accuracy and internal control.
  • Review and implement changes to accounting and payroll policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices.
  • Assist with special projects such as system upgrades, new payroll or accounting software implementations, and process redesign initiatives.

Leadership & People Management

  • Provide direct supervision, leadership, and mentorship to accounting, payroll, and accounts payable staff.
  • Perform annual staff evaluations, goal setting, and performance management.
  • Provide training, education, and professional development opportunities to staff as needed.
  • Resolve personnel issues related to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance concerns, and workflow challenges.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-service-oriented culture within the Finance Department.

Non-essential Duties:

  • Provide backup support for other accounting functions during high-volume or peak periods.
  • Participate in cross-departmental initiatives aimed at improving financial processes and organizational performance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
